Chris Wood - Chair
Chris joined Red Door at its inception in 2014 and has led the company's establishment and early growth.
He has worked in property related consultancy (Altair) for the last 8 years. During this time he has worked with numerous local authorities and a broad range of public and private sector housing organisations on strategic regeneration planning, asset management and capital programme delivery.
Prior to his time in consultancy, Chris spent over 20 years in local government. He has held Director of Housing posts in three London boroughs and he served as CEO for the London Borough of Newham.
Sarah Gaventa MA (RCA) - Non Executive Board Member
Sarah, Founder of Made Public and currently Director of the Illuminated River Foundation.
She has worked as a public space, place making and cultural regeneration consultant for clients such as Berkeley Group, Lendlease and both Islington and Southwark Councils and recently curated Out There: Our Post War Public Art exhibition at Somerset House for Historic England.
Sarah is currently Lendlease’s public space champion for their Elephant & Castle regeneration project and has chaired the Community Forum for the Elephant and Castle for the last three years, along with chairing the recently formed Park Advisory Group helping to create the new Elephant Park.
She has written extensively on public space including authoring the book ‘New Public Spaces’.
Sarah was the Director of CABE Space - the UK government’s advisor on public space - from October 2006 until April 2011 when CABE (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) ceased. Sarah’s role included advocacy, thought leadership and advice on the creation, design and management of public spaces including streets and civic spaces.
Sarah has been an Associate and member of the senior management team at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners architects and in 2014 she was the Interim Director of the Architecture Foundation.
Sarah was made an Honorary Fellow of the Landscape Institute in 2010 for her outstanding contribution to landscape.
John Swinney - Non Executive Board Member
John’s career has been split between local government and the private sector. He has considerable experience of the public private partnership space. Indeed much of his time has been focused on driving change and innovation in social housing. He led Pinnacle through its early years, positioning it as the leading private manager of public housing. Since leaving Pinnacle he has worked at Eaga and Carillion winning substantial energy related contracts with local authorities and housing associations.
John’s passion is for communities and how they can secure better services. Recently he has been working on the creation of a green bond and is now Chief Executive of Just Housing Group a niche consultancy working in social housing.
Joe Montgomery CB - Non Executive Board Member
Joe joined the Board in November 16 and brings a wealth of experience in urban regeneration having worked extensively in central and local government.
Currently the Chair of Regional Enterprise Limited a partnership between Capita plc and the London Borough of Barnet. Previous roles include being the Chief Executive (Europe) at Urban Land Institute, Director General at the Department for Communities and Local Government, Director General, Office of the Deputy Prime Minster and Executive Director for Regeneration, London borough of Lewisham.
Joe has served as a Non-Executive Director at the Department of Transport and is honorary president of the International New Towns Association.
